The Highlands Art Festival will present the long time residents and new contemporary transplants a fresh and exciting event centered around fine art and fine craft. Sculpture, paintings, jewelry, ceramics, wood & metal work and much more!

The art event will be presented on the beautiful grounds of The Highlands Masonic Lodge. The well manicured lawn area provides the perfect early summer setting for a show.

12 years ago we created and built the Park Hill Art Festival. The Highlands neighborhood is a very similar area and has an art loving clientele. Following our Park Hill Art Festival on the previous weekend, the date is also perfect as the first weeks of June in Denver are nothing short of spectacular.
We are excited to share the many special events at the Highlands Art Festival. Our $1000 art festival shopping spree drawing is at 12 pm on Sunday. The kids mobile arts and crafts studio Crafty Chassis will be onsite daily from 2-5, along with special musical performances throughout the weekend.

“Master Artist” award winner for the 2022 season winner! Peter Freischlag's free-flowing style makes his watercolors unique. Peter is a mood painter creating an impression of his sublet matter through the use of bold and energetic colors. Peter's greatest satisfaction comes from the donation to worthy causes such as Habitat for the Humanity, the American Heart Association, the American Breast Cancer Society, Children’s Hospice House among others and was commissioned by Johns Hopkins in Baltimore where he produced some 50 originals for their surgery wing, Recently, Wake Forest’s University’s new neonatal center approached Peter to paint the signature piece for the entrance to their new center and his 48 x 60 inch “Baby Bear” adorns the entrance. His work is bright and bold watercolors that adhere to wood panels treated with a preservative.
Richard uses the segmented method of creating his designs by cutting strips of wood into segments of a circle. The segments are glued together to form a ring. Multiple rings are glued together to form the rough shape of the piece. He then mounts the rough shape on the lathe for final shaping and finishing.
Justin Thornton's work deals with nature, its history of scientific study and presented as a reminder of the importance it plays in our lives. He uses an old photographic process, cyanotype, that was used to catalog botanical specimens. With a selective chemical application and gold paint and leaf after the fact he creates a striking image to focus your thoughts on the natural world.
African Batik Art on cotton, also reproduced into lithographs and archival prints. The artwork is based on themes created by co-artist Lungala Rubadiri. Each image represents a universal value, such as family, friendship, hope, happiness, peace, and love.

By collecting and preserving a variety of leaves, flower petals, and grasses, Alycia brings the personalities of all kinds of creatures to life in original pieces that last a lifetime. Her company name is Pure Flora Creations and her website is www.purefloracreations.com
Using quality quilting fabrics and vintage kimonos, Paula cures her base fabric by melding 2 pieces of fabric, then lacquers and wet sands the fabric 6 times over the course of 7 weeks. She, then, manipulates the fabric to the design she wants and completes it with Asian coins, Swarovski crystals and found objects.
Amy's work is inspired by her hobby as a Colorado beekeeper in Gilpin county. She electroforms individual specimens of honeycomb into unique pendants, rings and earrings.
Additional mixed media work utilizes the beeswax encaustic method, where she harvests native wildflowers and plants of the Rocky mountains, dries them and incorporates them into organic, whimsical designs.
Garcia’s work captures the spirit of his subject through his vibrant use of color and texture. The impressionist landscape attributes and minimal use of perspective elements allows the viewer to focus directly on the subject, allowing an appreciation for the use of movement implied by his palette knives and creating a personal wildlife encounter.

She explores space, light and focus in her textured paintings that incorporate her natural handwriting and mixed materials, to create dramatic statement pieces.
Kim Messina is an artist deeply inspired by nature, which serves as a constant source of creativity in her work. While she initially began learning pottery on the wheel, she soon discovered a passion for hand building, which allowed her to explore new techniques and forms. Her early introduction to Raku has recently opened up exciting new avenues, leading her to continuously push the boundaries of her craft.
When the sparks and the heat meet, that is where the magic really happens for Jessi. Her metal art is whimsical and fun with most of her clients touting how much joy it brings them, A lover of bright, vibrant colors, Jessi brings it up a notch with resin to give those bright colors a chance to really shine. She welds recycled metal to create whimsical, abstract subjects using unique bending & grinding techniques as well as acrylics, solvent dyes & patinas for color & finish with resin or powder-coat.
Using traditional mediums such as oils, and acrylics as well as some digital illustration, Kevin Weber creates bright colorful images of historically significant aviation subjects, as well as scenes of science fiction and wildlife.

Nathan Eigenfeld focuses on capturing the raw immensity and powerful drama of the wild. He often travels by foot, kayak, snowmobile, motorcycle, swim, or ski to reach remote landscapes, embracing the physical nature of moving through these untamed environments. His process begins with the adventure of exploring wild places, often alone and for extended periods of time, with the intention of inspiring viewers to connect with and find healing through the raw moments he captures.

Tina Hoffer is a unique woodworker by blending two of natures alluring elements; wood and stone. Tina creates functional, culinary accessories with her Cutting Boards, Gathering Boards, Serving Platters and Dipping Trays that will elevate your daily or special occasions.
Tina meticulously searches through arborists’ wood lots looking for the perfectly flawed, cracked and knot filled hardwoods that other woodworkers pass by because of these deficits. She chooses smaller pieces of wood that will be enhanced with Stone like turquoise, lapis, malachite or chrysocolla, and inlays these into the cracks and voids. She follows the Kintsugi method of Japanese art , where broken and fractured pottery is mended with gold or silver dust, there by restoring the fragments to a functional and more beautiful piece.

Deidre Sappington is a progressive custom stained glass artist, specializing is stained glass pet portraits.
She has been creating stained glass windows and panels since 2015. Her inspiration comes from the transference of light and the emotion that it evokes through Stained Glass. Her love of animals led to specializing in stained glass pet portraits and memorials, where she expertly captures the essence of our adopted family members. Deidre also enjoys creating custom works for her clients, including up-cycling old items with stained glass to give them new life through art.
Woodblock Artist Anna Pausch was raised in the Finger Lakes amongst backpackers and environmental scientist. In 2015 she earned BFA in Printmaking and a minor in Fibers from Massachusetts College of Art and Design in Boston. Since, her love of the outdoors returned her to central NY and now to Denver, CO. The high altitude and desert landscapes of Colorado and the South West surprise the longtime east coaster; inspiring her new body of work.

Come to the festival and simply ask any artist for a free drawing ticket.
What do I do with the ticket?
Put your ticket "Stub in the tub!" on the steps of the Masonic Lodge Building.

Be present at 12 pm on Sunday for the drawing.

Crafty Chassis is a 12-foot box truck that has been transformed into a mobile arts and crafts studio.
They offer a variety of DIY projects and provide all of the tools, materials and guidance needed to help kids of all ages create fun, colorful crafts.
Their custom-built truck comes stuffed with enough creative inspiration to help even the “non-artistic” tap into their inner artist. The fun-loving vibe under their canopy provides a safe, social atmosphere where everyone can be inspired and take away a one of a kind handmade project.
