At the heart of Zen and the Art of Motorcycle Maintenance is Phaedrus's quest to understand something that the author refers to as “Quality.” This "Quality" is when the subjective and the objective become so intertwined that they are hard to separate; they become one. These fine artists' exceptional work exemplify that definition.
Congratulations to each deserving distinguished artist!
Also our 2022 “Distinguished Excellence“ category award winners are:
In 2022, Peter was among the top selling watercolorists in North America with studios in both Golden, Colorado and Gilbert, Arizona. Peter is thrilled to be exclusively represented by the renowned Scottsdale gallery Anticus. In 2023, he also returned to the Arizona Fine Art Expo in Scottsdale.
Peter has been an artist for as long as he can remember. He is a mood painter creating images through the bold and dramatic use of color & harmony with context creating contemporary impressions. Peter’s watercolors push the boundaries of the traditional medium.
He also loves collaborating with clients to create the perfect piece of art for their specific space. The most prominent feature of his art lies in his ability to get his viewer to respond emotionally to his creation.
And, if it looks like Peter’s art in fun to do, it is!
Painted in reverse on acrylic sheets, Marilyn looks out from a black background and conceives all of her work the opposite of 99.9% of all painters. This technique is enhanced by the highlighting of vivid metallic and bright colors.
Marilyn's art is inspired by the natural beauty that surrounds her home at the base of the Mt. Evans wilderness area in Idaho Springs, Colorado. Painting in a modern impressionist style, Marilyn's art is infused with brilliant light and color. Her use of textured, bold brush strokes magnifies the vivid impressionist style. "If I invoke an emotion that connects the viewer to my art, I have achieved success".

Charles Sherman's work is inspired by a lifelong study of ancient civilizations, world cultures and religions. His philosophy of life and art has always been the same: to promote the positive.
From Charles "I call them Miracle Towers because they give me the sense of the Miracle of Flight and elevation. Each of the four sides is a triangle, wide at the bottom, thin at the top and wide at the top and thin at the bottom. The angles are designed to be moving upward and have positive pyramid energy.
What's unique about these pyramids is that they are perfectly balanced at the point. Pyramid energy brings strength, balance, and wisdom.
They are also known as tetrahedrons (four faces). Miracle Towers do not take up a lot of real estate and they fill a vertical void with grace and beauty.
The forms are minimalist, conceptual, and inspired by sacred geometry. No math is used. It is all intuitive. "
Miracle Towers, have a welded stainless steel or Corten steel substrate and are all designed to be outdoor sculptures. The oxidation of Corten steel protects the surface so it never needs to be coated or sealed. Some bridges are made from Corten steel.

By blending two of nature’s alluring elements, wood and stone, Tina creates functional, culinary accessories. Her cutting boards, serving platters, dipping trays and spinning gathering boards will elevate your daily or special ocaassions.
Tina meticulously searches through arborists’ woodlots looking for the perfectly flawed, cracked and knot filled hardwoods that other woodworkers pass by because of these deficits. She chooses manageable pieces of wood that will be enhanced with stone like Turquoise, Malachite, Lapis and Chryscolla and inlays these into the cracks and voids. Following a similar method to the Japanese art of Kintsugi, where broken and fractured pottery is mended with gold or silver dust, thereby restoring the fragments to a functional and more beautiful piece.
Tina grew up in Ontario, Canada. As a child, she discovered a passion for woodworking by watching her dad in his own shop. in 1990 she moved to Colorado and started a family. While her children were young, Tina turned her garage into a wood shop where she could escape and explore the beauty of woodworking.
Tina currently lives in Lafayette, Colorado where she spends her time wood working, playing with her dog and enjoying live arts with her close friends. Her work can be found at various fine art craft fairs and Farmers Markets in Boulder Valley, Denver, Vail Valley and the front range.

From Michael - Looking Farther comes from the lyrics to "Changing Horses" by Dan Fogelberg, which, to me
describes my life transition from career business-owner to photographer and artist,
an on-going journey of learning, discovery and seeing that I hope never ends. Thanks Dan.
'Looking Farther than you'll ever hope to see,
Takes you places you don't know,
Search for someone you can never hope to be,
But still you go,
Oh, still you go'
